Benefits of Herbal Medicine

Herbal medicine has been in use for many centuries and has gained popularity in more recent decades.

In fact, up until about 70 years ago herbalism and alternative medicines were viewed as the one of the more popular forms of medical treatment. Many medical remedies derived from natural products and herbs. (Chevallier, 2016)

Herbs like Valerian, St. John’s Wort, Turmeric, Ashwagandha, and Ginseng have been employed in the pharmaceutical arena for decades for their abilities to heal and cleanse the body.

People of varying regions of the world have used the herbs available to them to heal their bodies of disease, pain, inflammation, and other ailments.

Today, herbs in various forms are studied and used in modern medicines to help heal our bodies. Most herbs are multi-faceted and are used in a variety of ways to aid in the treatment of a variety of conditions. Like Chamomile (German, species) which can be used for relaxation, bloating and gas, as well as for diaper rash.

Herbal medicine provides the benefit of healing your body while minimizing side effects. Have you ever watched a commercial for a pharmaceutical drug that lists multiple side effects to cure 1 condition?

“This great drug that we are promoting can help you with a rash on your body, but it may cause, stroke, heart attack, thoughts of suicide, or even death”.

How can you listen to that and not scratch your head, wondering if there was a way to treat the condition without such severe side effects.

The chances of harming yourself by using the wrong herb, overdosing on an herb, are extremely low. Not to say that misidentification of plants cannot cause harmful effects, because it can. But the likelihood that you pick up a plant and die vs taking a drug and die are almost astronomically different. It is more likely to happen if you forage mushrooms than forage for herbs and plants.

Herbs can be used to cleanse the body through detoxification, to heal minor ailments, insect bites, sunburns, etc., boost the body’s emotional response and ability to self-regulate, lower inflammation and rid skin of a variety of conditions. One of my favorite ways to use a commonly grown garden herb, mint, is to steep it in water for 1-2 weeks then add it to my water to aid with gastrointestinal problems.

My personal philosophy teeters on using both holistic, alternative medicine as well as major pharmaceuticals when necessary. Herbal medicine derives from nature, we derive from nature, using those things that are commonly found in the areas we live in brings our bodies and our minds closer to nature. Holistic medicine is powerful, there have been amazing studies that show its power to great extents, but it is not a cure all for modern diseases.

Over the last 3 years, I’ve spent a great deal of time learning from various community mentors, through books, webinars, and videos about the benefits of herbal medicine and taking what we put into our bodies more seriously. I began my own garden in Spring 2022 and have been working on the development of this company since March 2023 without even knowing it. It seemed like pieces aligned in my life at the right time to make Holistic Bliss, LLC happen.

So, if it’s one decision, one small step to put you on a path to living in the best version of yourself, why not start with us? Start with a company that is aims to naturally put “you” first!
